James Edward Pledger, 84, passed away on Nov. 29, 2020, at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born on Oct. 31, 1936, to the late Willice and Lorene Higgeson Pledger.
Survivors include his son Jerry (Brenda) Pledger of Cape Girardeau, MO.; Daughter In-law Stephanie Pledger; former wife Maryann Pledger; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
James was an active member of the SEMMA Remote Controlled Airplanes Group, loved working on computers and building them and retired after 26 years at Proctor and Gamble. James never met a stranger and always enjoyed visiting places so he could talk to anyone he would come into contact. He loved having company and being with his friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Johnny Pledger and Steven Christopher Pledger; two brothers, Robert and William Pledger; two sisters, Mary Summers and Peggy Chiles.
Visitation will be held 10 a.m. to noon Friday at Ford and Sons Funeral Home on Mount Auburn Road in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will be conducted at noon Friday, at the funeral home with the Rev. Lyle Johnston officiating. Interment will take place in the New Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
