PUXICO -- James H. Placher, 88, of Pacific died Wednesday, July 22, 1998, at the home of a daughter in DeSoto.
He was born Oct. 15, 1909, at Kinder, son of Jesse H. and Mary Bell Hay Placher. He and Verda Cox were married Nov. 27, 1935, at Puxico. She died April 18, 1998.
Placher had been a security guard at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, and had also worked at St. Louis National Tank and Boiler. Formerly of the Puxico area, he had lived in Pacific since 1987.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Hall of DeSoto; a son, William Placher of Pacific; a brother, Floyd Hay of Santa Ana, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, a sister, and three brothers.
Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ray Placher officiating. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery.
