He was born June 15, 1945, in Cape Girardeau to Elmer and Alma Huey Pierce.
Jim was a loving father, father-in-law, grandpa, caring brother, son and very dear friend to many. A most entertaining individual, most who came to know Jim were drawn to him by his magnetic personality and generous nature. With his one-liner wit and charming charisma, his love-light shined brightly.
Jim was a fixture in the Cape Girardeau community for most of his earthly years. To help his mother at home, Jim worked after school at the Playmoor Pool Hall, where he racked pool balls and cleaned tables.
He enjoyed many years of competing nationally in pool tournaments and playing fast- and slow-pitch softball in the Southeast Missouri area. Jim was a respected opponent and a preferred teammate. He and others helped grow youth baseball and football in the area.
Jim enjoyed a rewarding career in the electrical distribution industry. He began his career with Schott Electric Supply and later was a partner at Jackson Electric Supply. After several years with Anixter in St. Louis, he returned to Cape Girardeau and spent many of his favorite years with his Cape Electric family. Jim retired in 2007, having served his industry for more than 30 years.
Jim was not only a great man, he was a man with God.
He was a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School, class of 1964.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
