JAMES PICKEL

McCLURE, Ill. -- James "Pappy" Pickel, 70, of McClure died Friday, March 7, 1997, at Union County Hospital.

He was born March 23, 1926 in Anna, son of John Frederick and Eva Miles Pickel.

He married Bonnie E. Eudy in Anna on Dec. 5, 1954. She survives.

Pickel was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Pickel of McClure and Jeff Pickel of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Pam Mehrle of McClure; a sister, Martha Hermerding of Millstadt, Ill.; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home chapel in Jonesboro with the Rev. Leon Eudy officiating. Burial will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 5 to 9 p.m.
