James W. Mowery, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born June 18,1914, in Piggott, Ark., son of John and Nellie Morgan Mowery. He and Neva Travillion were married Nov. 20, 1937, in Greenway, Ark.
Mowery worked for Lohmann Fixtures 30 years. He then was self-employed, retiring in 1994. He was a member of Maple United Methodist Church, VFW Post 3838, and Full Gospel Businessmen.
He served with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II, and received a Purple Heart.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Donald Mowery of Gordonville, Mo.; a brother, Willard Mowery of Fresno, Calif.; two sisters, Lola Perry of Piggott, Ark., Narene Glover of Fayetteville, Ark.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. John Gregory officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Piggott Memorial Cemetery in Piggott.
