James Edward Mosley of Cape Girardeau, age 71, died peacefully at home Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2020. James Edward Mosley of Cape Girardeau, age 71, died peacefully at home Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2020.

James was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving honorably from March 1969 to November 1970, when he received an honorable discharge. While serving his country, he earned several distinguished commendations for dedication and heroism, including the Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.

James started life in a small town in Mississippi, but spent most of his life as a resident of Cape Girardeau. James loved Christ and was a passionate reader, with the Bible being his primary preference. He was also an avid motorcyclist and bicyclist, but his true passion was spending time with his children, grandchildren and extended large family.

James is survived by his father, Edgar Mosley; three children, Nikki Mosley, James Mosley II and Mark Mosley; three grandchildren, Adrianna Reynolds, Brianna Mosley and Jade Mosley. He also leaves behind siblings, Mary Scott, Mindi Lewis, Bret Estes, Lucy Primm, Marcellus Mosley and Joseph Mosley.

James was preceded in death by his mother, Sadie Mosley, and brothers, Grover and Charles Mosley.

Private service will be held for the immediate family Monday, followed by an honorary 21-gun salute. He will be interred in a family plot at Lorimier Cemetery.
