James McClintock

James B. "Jim" McClintock, 83, of Scott City passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau with his wife, son and daughter at his side.

He was born Sept. 10, 1924, in Fremont, Ohio, son of James E. and Ruth Gibbs McClintock. He and Evelyn O'Neal of Scott City were married March 2, 1946.

Jim worked on highway construction for more than 25 years and then owned businesses in Scott City until his retirement in July 2007.

He served in the Army during World War II from 1943 until 1947. He served in the South Pacific, Japan and White Sands Proving Grounds in New Mexico. He was a 50-year member of Harold O. Grauel Masonic Lodge No. 672 and was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife; a son, James M. (Debbie) McClintock of Columbia, Mo.; a daughter, Sharon (Denis) Bucher of Jackson; five grandchildren, Jill McClintock, Julie (Matt) Marstall, Shannon (Jeff) Wilhelmy, Amy (Jared) Goodson and Dean (Becky) Bucher; six great-grandchildren, Taylor and Chase Goodson, Madison, Joshua, Chris and Chase Wilhelmy.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother and a sister, Marian Frye of Memphis, Tenn.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Amick-Bur-nett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral chapel, with Rev. Jim Norris officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.

Pallbearers will be Dean Bucher, Jared Goodson, Matt Marstall, Mark O'Neal, Fred Lerche, Paul Ferguson, Ron Biester and Wade Barnes.

Memorials may be made to Broadway United Methodist Church of Scott City.
