ADVANCE, Mo. -- James E. McCain, 80, of Advance passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 15, 1931, in Detroit, Mich., son of Francis O. and Beulah Strobel McCain. He and Corinne Sue Craig were married July 23, 1961, in Kankakee, Ill.
James had been a meat manager at several grocery stores. He was an associate pastor 32 years at the Church of God in Schererville, Ind. He was a member of Tanner Street Church in Sikeston, Mo. He loved fishing and hunting.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Donald McCain of Smyrna, Tenn., Ronald McCain of Belleville, Ill.; a daughter, Tammy Miles of Advance; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three cousins, Larry and Kay Strobel and Roger Bartolo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Helen Phillips.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. John Neeley officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
