CHARLESTON, Mo. -- James M. "Jim" Malugen, 80, of Charleston, formerly of Potosi, Missouri, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Dec. 30, 1936, in Caruthersville, Missouri, to the late Guffrie Malugen Sr. and Gertrude McGee Malugen.
He was a longtime educator, serving in many capacities in the Potosi School District before moving to Charleston, where he was the pastor of the First Christian Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He married Carolyn Ferrell, and she survives of the home in Charleston.
Others survivors include two sons, Jamie Malugen of Jackson and Mark Malugen of Rogers, Arkansas; several grandchildren; and two brothers, Warren Malugen of Cape Girardeau and Wayne Malugen of Potosi.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny Malugen and Guffrie Malugen Jr.; and by two sisters, Erma Vaughan and Joan Blair.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1 p.m. Thursday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
Interment with full military rites will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
