THEBES, Ill. -- James Luttrell, 65, of Thebes died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 30, 1936, at Kennett, Mo., son of John and Edith Duty Luttrell. He and Bonnie Schmidt were married Sept. 2, 1961, in Dupo, Ill.

Luttrell was a river engineer. He served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife; six sons and daughters-in-law, John and Kim Luttrell of McClure, Ill., Ronald and Renee Luttrell of Jackson, Mo., Kenny and Denise Luttrell of Jackson, Kevin and Stephanie Luttrell of Thebes, Eric and Leslie Luttrell of Cape Girardeau, Doug and Robin Luttrell of Cape Girardeau; a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Tom Inskeep of Thebes.

Also surviving are two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Janet Luttrell of Cape Girardeau, William and Pat Luttrell of Burfordville, Mo.; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Vickie and Gene Holston of Jackson, Shirley and Garrett Phillips of Sparta, Ill., Georgie and Charles Pollack of Dongola, Ill., Barbara and Donald Inskeep of Cape Girardeau; 17 grandchildren; and a special family friend, Greg McAllister.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, and three brothers.

Friends may call at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel in Cape Girardeau from 4:30-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Phillip Easton officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Thebes, with full military rites.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital, 1 St. Jude Place, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 300, Memphis, Tenn.
