HONEY GROVE, Texas -- James Lester Chambers, 74, of Honey Grove, formerly of Anniston, Mo., died Thursday, Sept. 12, 1996, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Dallas after an extended illness.
He was born March 10, 1922, in Anniston to the late Frank and Emma Pollock Chambers. He had lived in Honey Grove for the last three and a half years.
Chambers was a member of the Church of Christ and a veteran of World War II, serving as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force.
In 1941, he married Sue Adams, who survives. He is also survived by two sons: Bob of Honey Grove and Jim of Celeste, Texas; four brothers: Charles of Anniston, Ben of Sikeston and Bill of Charleston; one sister, Mrs. Victor "Margie" Ahlfield of Anniston; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son and two brothers.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Bro. Martin Lucas, associate pastor of the First Christian Church in East Prairie, officiating. Burial will follow in the Anniston Cemetery.
