EAST PRAIRIE -- James Leonard Moore, 80, of East Prairie, died at 9:45 a.m. Friday, March 17, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born May 12, 1914, in Vashon Island, Wash., the son of the late James and Zoma Savley Moore. He lived in East Prairie for the past four years after moving from Michigan. EAST PRAIRIE -- James Leonard Moore, 80, of East Prairie, died at 9:45 a.m. Friday, March 17, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born May 12, 1914, in Vashon Island, Wash., the son of the late James and Zoma Savley Moore.

He lived in East Prairie for the past four years after moving from Michigan. He was a retired postal worker and a veteran of World War II, having served in the Navy.

On Dec. 3, 1947, at Fort Wayne Ind., he married Nora Dunn, who survives.

Moore was a member of the Elks lodge in St. Joseph, Mich., the American Legion in Berrien Springs, Mich., and the DAV chapter of Niles, Mich. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of East Prairie.

Also surviving are a son, Gary Moore of Durham, N.C.; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.

Service will be today at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. George White, pastor of First Baptist Church of East Prairie, and the Rev. Ted Wimberley, pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church of Sikeston, officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
