La CENTER, Ky. -- James Les Segraves, 87, of La Center, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 1996, at his home.

He was born July 2, 1908, son of Warren and Minerva Bone Segraves.

He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a Kentucky Colonel.

He moved from Cape Girardeau to Los Angeles in 1958. He retired in 1972 as manager of U.S.M., a division of Emhart Corp.

He then retired to La Center to hunt and fish.

He was a life member of VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau. He was a mason since 1947. He was a member of Antioch Lodge 332, where he was a past master and secretary. He was a 32nd-degree mason and a member of the Scottish Rite Temple in Madisonville, Ky. He was a member of the La Center United Methodist Church.

Survivors are his wife, La Verne Segraves; and two daughters, Betty Drace of Cape Girardeau and Judi Jacobs of La Grange, Texas.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, three brothers, a sister and a grandchild.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the Jones Funeral Home in La Center. Masonic service will be at 7 tonight at the funeral chapel.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

The Rev. Randy Cooper will officiate, with burial in La Center City Cemetery.
