James L. Moore, 98, of Festus, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1992, at Christian Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Sept. 1, 1894, in Perry County, son of Albert G. and Frances M. Dickinson Moore. He married Los B. Tucker Sept. 16, 1960, at Williamsville. She died July 30, 1988.
Moore worked at Marquette Cement Co. here from 1912-20, was a master mechanic at Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co. in Crystal City from 1920-41, and during World War II he was machinery superintendent at Southeast Ship Building Co. in Savannah, Ga. He was maintenance superintendent with the Kansas City Water Department from 1945 until retiring in 1959.
He then moved back to Cape Girardeau, and later moved to Festus.
Moore was a member of Second Baptist Church at Festus, Shekinah Lodge 256 AF&AM, and was a 32nd Degree York Rite Mason.
Survivors include a son, Roy Moore of Florissant; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren,and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Randy Casey will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
