James H. Kremer, proud husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and World War II veteran, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
Jim, as he was known by most, was born July 15, 1927, in Jefferson City, Missouri, to August H. and Theresa E Hoer Kremer. He and Georgene "Genie" Schauwecker were married May 30, 1950, in Westphalia, Missouri.
He graduated from Westphalia High School, attended University of Missouri and was in the Navy.
Jim and his family moved to Cape Girardeau in 1964, where he managed Missouri Distributors until 1975. He then worked as a furniture representative for Griffaw Furniture, Cape Furniture and Bushline, retiring in 1990.
He loved playing golf for years at Kimbeland. He was a member of the Cape Elks Lodge, a charter member of the Cape Eagles Club, active in the Missouri Jaycees in Jefferson City, having served on the Jaycees State Board of Directors, and a member of the International Furniture Reps Association and Illinois Reps Association.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Georgene "Genie" Kremer of Cape Girardeau; four daughters, Kathy Toon of San Diego, Kristy Kremer of Helendale, California, Kelly (Kenny) Urhahn of Cape Girardeau and Kara (Terry) Scholl of Jackson; two sons, Kim (Marsha) Kremer of Fruitland and Kevin (Claudia) Kremer of St. Louis; six grandchildren, Blake (Katie) Urhahn of Cape Girardeau, Kelsey (Adam) McGonigle of St. Louis, Erica and Brendan Scholl of Cape Girardeau and Haley and Chase Urhahn of Cape Girardeau; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leonard Kremer.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Rick Jones officiating. Military honors will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Vincent de Paul School, Notre Dame Regional High School or a charity of your choice.
