James M. Jordan, 92, of Jackson died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at Jackson Manor. He was born May 31, 1912, at Mint Hill, Mo., son of Benjamin Martin and Mary Elizabeth Quinn Jordan. He and Alice H. Frey were married June 29, 1935, at Hermann, Mo. Jordan worked 13 years for the Army Corps of Engineers in Gasconade, Mo. He later worked at Louis Begemann's general merchandise store in Hermann, was manager of a supermarket in Memphis, Tenn., and in 1948 purchased a grocery store...

He was born May 31, 1912, at Mint Hill, Mo., son of Benjamin Martin and Mary Elizabeth Quinn Jordan. He and Alice H. Frey were married June 29, 1935, at Hermann, Mo.

Jordan worked 13 years for the Army Corps of Engineers in Gasconade, Mo. He later worked at Louis Begemann's general merchandise store in Hermann, was manager of a supermarket in Memphis, Tenn., and in 1948 purchased a grocery store.

The Jordans moved to Jackson in 2002. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Caruthersville, Mo.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kenneth Jordan of Hermann, James Jordan of Grand Prairie, Texas; a daughter, Mary Jones of Caruthersville; two sisters, Beatrice Schwinke of Fredericksburg, Iowa, Waldine Mertens of Florissant, Mo.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call at Toedtmann and Grosse Funeral Home at Hermann from noon to service time Saturday.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Kirwin Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Hermann Cemetery.
