James R. "Rudi" Johnson, 81, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born Dec. 28, 1917, at White Oak, son of James R. and Bertha Goldsmith Johnson. He married Dorris Meadows, who died March 9, 1993.
Johnson was a graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute.
He was a commercial artist at Meredith Corp. in Des Moines, Iowa, from 1947 until retiring in 1982.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
Survivors include a brother, Ronald Johnson of Metairie, La.; two sisters, Evelyn Cole of Paragould, Ark., and Aline Johnson of Cape Girardeau.
Graveside service will be held at a later date at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett.
McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
