James "Jim" Johnson, 79, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Jackson, died Sunday, March 13, 2005, at his home.
He was born Nov. 15, 1925, in St. Louis, son of Dewey and Mattie Alfultus Johnson. He and Jackie Lewis were married Feb. 8, 1984.
Johnson retired as an electrician with IBEW Local 1. He was a lifetime member and former post commander of VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau, and a member of American Legion Post 158 in Jackson.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Marsha Craft and Jane Johnson of Jackson, Lisa Thompson of Everdale, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Leslie Carmona of Savannah, Ga.; an adopted daughter, Julie Green of Jackson; a sister, Sue Jones of Cape Girardeau; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Futrell Memorial Church of God in Christ in Jackson. An American Legion service will be held at 7.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with Rodney Lewis and Ollie Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Williams Funeral Home in Charleston, Mo., is in charge of arrangements.
