James J. Owen, 72, 1974 Perryville Road, died Monday, Nov. 21, 1994, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born July 18, 1922, in St. Louis, son of Judge Oswald P. and Catherine Alles Owen. He and June Huebner were married June 7, 1947, in St. Louis.
Owen had lived in Cape Girardeau since 1961. He was vice president and manager of Paramount Liquor Co. 25 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of Elks and VFW in Cape Girardeau, Cape Girardeau Country Club, SEMO Golf Team Boosters, and SEMO Seniors Golf. He was a past president of Missouri Liquor Wholesalers, former member of Chamber of Commerce, and former director of the country club here. Owen was a corporal in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, and a daughter, Sandy Plagens of Charlevoix, Mich.
He was preceded in death by a son and brother.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Park in St. Louis.
