Funeral service for James "J.O." Hunze, 3301 Hopper Road, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson. Dr. Larry Gallamore will officiate, with burial in Lorimier Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
Hunze, 81, died Thursday, March 30, 1995, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Jan. 21, 1914, in Cape Girardeau, son of John W. and Amelia Nothdurft Hunze. He and Bernice Willa were married Nov. 8, 1937, in Cape Girardeau.
Hunze worked for Prudential Insurance Co. in Cape Girardeau and Paducah, Ky. He moved back to Cape Girardeau in 1950 from Paducah and became owner of the former Cape Monument Co. and changed the name to Hunze Monument Co. He was still active in the business.
Hunze was a 1933 graduate of College High School. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 63, VFW Post 3838, and 732nd Railway Operating Battalion Association. He served with the U.S. Army in the European Theater during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jay and Jim Hunze of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Diane Brown of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.
