MOUND CITY, Ill. -- Memorial graveside service for James H. Hooppaw of Evart, Mich., will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday at Liberty Cemetery near Pulaski, Ill.
Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, Ill., is in charge of arrangements.
Funeral was held Dec. 15, 2001, in Evart. Full military rites were conducted by VFW Post 7979.
Hooppaw, 81, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Metropolitan Hospital in Grand Rapids, Mich.
He was born Jan. 20, 1920, at Mound City, son of George and Frances Lentz Hooppaw.
Hooppaw was a graduate of Mount City Community High School. He was a boilermaker certified welder for Local 169. He retired and moved to Evart in 1982 from Detroit, Mich. He was a life member of VFW Post 7979.
He served in the military from March 5, 1941, to July 12, 1945. He was a member of Company K 132nd Infantry.
Survivors include his wife, Martha; a stepdaughter, Kathy Uroda of McComb, Mich.; two sisters, Pearl Swisshelm of Middletown, Ohio, and Marilou Salmon of Mound City.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.
