JACKSON -- James Hedley Hendrickson, 83, of Jackson died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at Mission Hospital in Mission, Texas.
He was born Sept. 28, 1915, in St. Louis, son of James Edgar and Ernestine Hedley Hendrickson. He first married Irene Fitch Jan. 18, 1939. She died in October 1986. He later married Elvira Weber July 18, 1987, in Jackson.
Hendrickson was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in St. Louis 37 years, retiring in 1970. He had been a square dance caller, and taught round dancing in St. Louis and Jackson.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, volunteer at Southeast Missouri Hospital, former Cub and Boy Scout master, lifetime member of Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 in Jackson, and VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau.
Hendrickson served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jim Hendrickson of Cape Girardeau, Bill Stearns of Jackson; two daughters, Sandy Hughey of Houston, Texas, Debbie Durant of Rockwall, Texas; a sister, Jean Golden of Cape Girardeau; and seven grandchildren.
Friends may call at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Thursday. An honor guard service will be held at 6.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. David Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
