FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. -- James Paul Halbrook Sr., 87, of Fredericktown, formerly of rural Marquand, Mo., died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at Stockhoff Nursing Home in Fredericktown.
He was born July 10, 1920, in St. Louis, son of Oscar M. and Effie M. Crocker Halbrook. He and Sylvia M. Breakfield were married Feb. 16, 1940.
Halbrook served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of VFW Post 4320 in Fredericktown, and was a retired production operator for Carter Carburetor Co. in St. Louis.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Roger Halbrook of Fredericktown, James Halbrook Jr. and William Halbrook Sr. of Marquand; two daughters, Gloria Lassen of Granite City, Ill., Ruth Ann Francis of Fredericktown; 11 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, a brother, six sisters, three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
There is no visitation or funeral.
