BLOOMSDALE, Mo. -- James A. Eftink, 73, of Bloomsdale died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021, at his home.
He was born May 27, 1948, in Cape Girardeau. He married Charlotte Anderson on July 18, 1970.
Jim graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1966 and went on to get a business degree from Southeast Missouri State University.
He then worked for Dow Chemical and farmed part-time. He retired from Dow Chemical in 2000. After retirement, he farmed full-time for his remaining years.
He was an active member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrenceton, Missouri; was a Knights of Columbus member at Bloomsdale, and served in the National Guard eight years.
Jim is survived by his wife, Charlotte Eftink of Bloomsdale; four sons, Timothy (Lori) Eftink of Beaver Dams, New York; Jason (Jennifer) Eftink of Bloomsdale; Nathan Eftink (Jody Loness) and James R. Eftink (Crystal Gilmer), both of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri; three brothers, Jerome Eftink of Chaffee, Missouri; David (Kathy) Eftink of Oran, Missouri; and Greg (Shirley) Eftink of Scott City; five sisters, Patsy (Dan) Brase of Cape Girardeau, Martha (Tom) Obermann of Chaffee, Sarah (Rick) Ross of St. Louis, Clara (Donnie) Essner of Chaffee and Betty Eftink of Jackson; grandchildren, Katharine, Grace, Madeline, Cameron, Aaron and Isaac Eftink; great-grandchild, Charlotte Rose Moore; four stepgrandchildren; and five great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Eftink; mother, Martha Klipfel Eftink; son, Mathew Eftink; daughter, Laura Eftink; sister-in-law, Sharlett Eftink; and brother-in-law, James Diebold.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Basler Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve.
Service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrenceton, with the Rev. Michael Benz officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, St. Lawrence Catholic Church or Mercy Hospice.
