James Harold "Buddy" Edwards, 83, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

He was born March 28, 1924, to the late Payton and Ella Standridge Edwards. He worked for California Spring Co. for 30 years in West Covina, Calif. He moved to Sikeston in 1990 and then moved to Cape Girardeau, where he attended La Croix United Methodist Church. He married Frances Lorene Ruff on Oct. 24, 1950, in Piggott, Ark., and she survives of the home.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, James A. and Edith Edwards of Herndon, Va.; four brothers, Pete Edwards of Scott City, Ray Edwards of Tulsa, Okla., Wayne Edwards of Los Angeles, and J.D. Edwards of Sikeston; three grandchildren, Patricia Edwards of Cape Girardeau, Susanna Edwards of Lakewood, Colo., and Renee Reopell of Herndon; and one great-granddaughter, Chloe Ozment of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.

Friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Rob Mehner, associate pastor of La Croix United Methodist Church, will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
