JONESBORO, Ill. -- James "Punk" Dickerson, 74, of Jonesboro died Friday, July 23, 1999, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 1, 1925, in Elco, son of Grover and Sophie Shelton Dickerson. He and Betty Jean Frick were married June 17, 1950, at Jonesboro.

Dickerson was a saw filer at a lumber company. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Jonesboro, and Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 in Anna.

He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Kathy Houston and Donna Anderson of Jonesboro, Joyce Kimbrough of Gallatin, Mo.; two brothers, Alfred Dickerson of Hurst, Grover Dickerson of Harrisburg; two sisters, Lilly Betts of Tamms, Betty Fliris of Lowell, Ind.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Friends may call at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home in Jonesboro from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joe Aldridge officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery, with graveside rites by VFW Post 3455.
