NEWBURGH, Ind. -- James P. "Sarge" DaWalt, 81, of Newburgh passed away Monday, June 13, 2022, at Newburgh Healthcare.
He was born June 26, 1940, in Madison, Wisconsin, to the late James and Jeanne Hubbard DaWalt.
Jim retired from the United States Air Force as a master sergeant after 20 years of service. He then went on to work at Procter & Gamble in Cape Girardeau, where he was known as "Sarge" for over 20 years. At home he was an expert woodcarver.
He is survived by his wife, Jewell Walden DaWalt; his children, Janel Fazio, Jill (Michael) Jackson, Floyd (Melanie) DaWalt and Amy (Daren) Ford; his grandchildren, Ryan, Miranda, Nicholas, Evie, Samantha, Mark, Garrett, Hannah, Arwyn, Morgan, Olivia, Abigail, Caleb, Elijah and Ashley; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas DaWalt, and his grandchild, Sarah Fazio.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Simple Cremation Evansville, Indiana.
