CHARLESTON -- Funeral service for James Dalton Sims of Charleston will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Gerald Penn will officiate, with burial in IOOF Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:30-8 p.m. today.
Sims, 53, died Friday, Aug. 11, 1995, in Fillmore, Utah, from injuries received in a truck accident.
He was born Jan. 18, 1942, in Tuckerman, Ark., son of James Robert and Flora Victoria Pruitt Sims. He and Julie Headman were married Dec. 31, 1993.
Sims was a truck driver with Wisconsin Express Lines of Green Bay. He previously had been police chief 10 years in Hodgkins, Ill.; with Columbus, Ga., Police Department; Charleston Department of Public Safety, and Mississippi County Sheriff's Department.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Brian Sims of Newton, Iowa, Robert "Robbie" Sims of Sikeston; a daughter, Christina Adams of Nixa; a stepdaughter, Laura Copeland of Lake on the Hills, Ill.; a sister, Rose Morris of Chicago, and three grandchildren.
