BERNIE -- James David Riggs Sr., 57, of Bernie died at Dexter Memorial Hospital Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998.
He was born at Cape Girardeau April 10, 1941, son of Claude E. Cloninger and Alline Hager Cloninger.
He married Tammy L. Lamunion Aug. 15, 1998, at Bernie. She survives.
He was a retired supervisor of Cupples Co. in St. Louis. He was of Southern Baptist faith.
Survivors include three sons, James Riggs Jr. of Puxico, Jerry Wayne Riggs of Poplar Bluff and Tommy Lee Riggs of Caruthersville; four daughters, Vera Stewart of Dexter, Lara Ann DeFord of Poplar Bluff, Tammy Lynn Riggs of Oklahoma and Courtney Lamunion of Bernie; three brothers, Charles Wayne Riggs and Darrell Lewis Cloninger, both of Taylorville, Ill., and Keith Alan Cloninger of Bernie; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Service will be held today at 1 p.m. at Rainey Funeral Chapel in Bernie, with the Rev. Gerald Lake of Dexter officiating. Interment will be in Bernie Cemetery.
