MAYFIELD, Ky. -- James P. "Jess" Crawford, 80, of Mayfield died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at the home of his son at Dexter, Mo.
Crawford was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mayfield and a member of Mayfield Masonic Lodge 369. He was former building and housing director for the city of Mayfield and former Mayfield city councilman. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a former Mayfield High School football coach from 1952 to 1956.
Survivors include a son, James Crawford Jr. of Dexter, Mo.; a brother, Charles Crawford of Cape Girardeau; and two granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Crawford, and a sister.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Brown Funeral Home at Mayfield.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Mayfield, with the Rev. Bob Swift officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery.
