James Michael Cordia, 68, of Oak Ridge died Tuesday, March 28, 2017, in an automobile accident near Fruitland.

He was born June 19, 1948, in Cape Girardeau to Louis and Lilly Brandon Cordia. He and Verna Underwood Cordia were married Jan. 31, 1974, in Cape Girardeau.

Mike was of the Catholic faith and had attended First Baptist Church in Millersville with his wife, Verna.

He worked as head of engineering at Procter & Gamble for 30 years.

He loved staying busy, helping people and enjoyed cheering people up with a joke or anything that would make them laugh.

Survivors include his wife, Verna Cordia of Oak Ridge; four sons, Kevin James (Donna) Brown of Perryville, Missouri, James Edward (Julie) Cordia of Perryville, Gary M. (Tina) Cook of O'Fallon, Missouri, and Terry Cordia of Perryville; daughter, Peggy Sue (Jason) Stieneke of Sedgewickville, Missouri; brothers, Henry (Pam) Cordia of Arizona, David Cordia of Jackson, Wayne Cordia of Cape Girardeau and Mike (Sharene) Brown and Stanley (Denise) Brown of Arnold, Missouri; and sisters, Helen (Mike) Farrar of Jackson and Alice Cordia of Cape Girardeau. He is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ralph Cordia.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
