James Coomer

James "Drew" Coomer, 62, of Scott City died Thursday, June 26, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born April 26, 1946, in Advance, Mo., son of James Robert and Berdean (Moore) Coomer. He and Charlotte "Sue" (May) Coomer were married Dec. 31, 1974, in Scott City.

He attended Illmo United Methodist Church in Scott City. He was a member of the Travellers Protection Association since 1973 and was an avid NASCAR fan. Cooper was a truck driver for many years. He worked at Superior Electric Co. in Cape Girardeau and for Kenny Burger Farms in Scott City. He was the manager for Mecums Texaco in Cape Girardeau. Later, he was a service technician for Mid-South Steel Products Inc. for 17 years.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte "Sue" Coomer of Scott City; his son, Todd Coomer and his wife Valerie of Cookeville, Tenn.; six sisters, Linda McFall and June Mayberry of Scott City, Ginger Hinkle of Millersville, Mo., Mary Heck of Mount Vernon, Ill., Marie Handley of Cape Girardeau, Kelly Nauert of Morley, Mo.; five brothers, Robert and Darrell Coomer of Scott City, Bill Coomer of Advance, Mo., Rick Coomer of Shawneetown, Mo., Ken Coomer of Delta, Mo.; two grandchildren, Macy Ann Coomer and Mylie Ava Coomer.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Service will be at at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Woeltje officiating.

Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Southeast Missouri Hospital.
