James Allen Carroll, 73, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, May 24, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born March 2, 1942, in Rolla, Missouri, to John Henry and Alma Juanita Walker Carroll. He and Betty J. Mayberry were married March 3, 1978, at Bridgeton, Missouri.
James was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserve.
He had worked at McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis. He retired from Monsanto World Headquarters in St. Louis, where he worked 19 years. He attended the Church of Christ in Cape Girardeau and was a volunteer at Saint Francis Medical Center. He was a former volunteer firefighter in Eldon, Missouri.
Survivors include his wife, Betty J. Carroll of Cape Girardeau; three sons, Bryan Carroll of St. Louis, David J. (Carleen) Bendel of Glen Carbon, Illinois, and Fred M. Bendel of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Lisa M. Carroll of Elsberry, Missouri, Janette F. Carroll of St. Louis and Cynthia B. (Fred) Gotham of Pensacola, Florida; two sisters, Barbara F. Carroll of Rolla and Donna M. Hatfield of St. Ann, Missouri; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Victoria Lynn Carroll; three brothers; and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Austin Holiman officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park with full military honors by the Missouri Honors Team.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Children's Home of Paragould, Arkansas.
