MARQUAND -- James Clifford Stone, 76, of Marquand died Saturday, Oct. 5, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 22, 1919, at Morley, the son of James Frederick and Anna Sarah Slinkard Stone. He married Iva O. Seabaugh on Sept. 7, 1946, and she survives.

Stone was an Army veteran. He was a member of Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church for 60 years, where he served as Sunday School superintendent, church secretary and member of the cemetery board. He was a 50-year member of the Althenthal Journs American Legion Post 158 of Jackson. He drove a school bus for the Woodland School District for 16 years.

He was preceded in death by a daughter and a sister.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill. There will be an American Legion service at 7:30 p.m.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Michael and the Rev. Buford Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
