ANNA, Ill. -- James S. Boyd, 72, of Anna died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis County.
He was born Jan. 5, 1932, in Jonesboro, Ill., son of Robert L. and Hattie Edwards Boyd. He and Hilda Jean Lyerla were married June 24, 1952, in Paragould, Ark.
Boyd was a truck driver and instructor at Shawnee Community College in Ullin, Ill., more than 44 years. He was a member of Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 and Anna Masonic Lodge 520 AF&AM.
He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Terri Bowen of Jonesboro; two sons, James Boyd of Cobden, Ill., David Boyd of Jonesboro; a brother, Raymond Boyd of Jonesboro; a sister, Jane Verble of Indianapolis, Ind.; two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and two brothers.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from noon Monday until time of service. A Masonic service will be held at 1:30 p.m. by Lodge 520.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Casper Cemetery, with military honors by VFW Post 3455.
