James Frederick Bolen, 79, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born April 3, 1931, in Cape Girardeau, son of John Gilbert and Ethel Kitchen Bolen.
He and Elaine M. Hoffman were married Saturday, Nov. 5, 1955, at Cape Girardeau.
Mr. Bolen was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Army. He was a sergeant, combat veteran and earned a CIB medal.
He was a painter in the Cape Girardeau area many years and also worked for the former Marquette Cement Co. for 13 years, retiring in 1970.
He was a member of First Pentecostal Church in Cape Girardeau and VFW Post 3838. He also had a great love and passion for the Capahas baseball team.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine M. Bolen of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Jane A. (Mark) Clayton, San Antonio; a son, Kyle M. (Brenda) Bolen, Cottage Hills, Ill.; three grandchildren, Nicholas Bolen, McKenzie Clayton and Duncan Clayton; a brother, Jess (Mary) Bolen, Cape Girardeau; four sisters, Wanda Ing, Geneva Bolen, Shirley (Ronnie) Lohmann and Karen Lewis, all of Cape Girardeau; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Bill Bolen and Larry Bolen, and a sister: Virginia Seabaugh.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Jack Cathcart and. Darrell Faire Sr. officiating.
Burial will be at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau with full military rites by the Missouri Honors Team and VFW Post 3838.
