GLEN ALLEN -- James E. Barker, 92, of Glen Allen died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998, at Marble Hill. He was born Oct. 31, 1905, in Lexington, Tenn., son of James Silas and Ida Petty Barker. He and Bertha G. Goad were married Jan. 8, 1928. Barker retired from Aurora Pump Co. in Aurora, Ill., in 1968. He moved to Glen Allen and became a truck farmer...

GLEN ALLEN -- James E. Barker, 92, of Glen Allen died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998, at Marble Hill.

He was born Oct. 31, 1905, in Lexington, Tenn., son of James Silas and Ida Petty Barker. He and Bertha G. Goad were married Jan. 8, 1928.

Barker retired from Aurora Pump Co. in Aurora, Ill., in 1968. He moved to Glen Allen and became a truck farmer.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Clinton, James Sr. and Joe Barker, all of Glen Allen, Donald Barker of Aurora; three daughters, Wanda Cooper of Cape Girardeau, Linda Russell of Glen Allen, Brenda Fuller of Marble Hill; a sister, Ruth Scott of Parsons, Tenn.; 27 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, four brothers, four sisters, and a great-granddaughter.

Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Fred Ritter and Frederick Mouser officiating. Burial will be in Barker Cemetery near Glen Allen.
