Ruth Jean Taylor, 86, of Burfordville passed away Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born June 18, 1935, to Jess and Abba Proffer in Crump. She married James D. Taylor on May 29, 1960, and he preceded her in death Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022, at Westfield Nursing Center in Sikeston, Missouri, at the age of 84.
Ruth worked at the International Shoe factory in Jackson for more than 40 years. She loved to quilt and garden.
She is survived by her son, David Taylor (Pat Huber) of Jackson; daughter, Marlene (Charles Sr.) Rouse of Greenwood, Florida; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her husband, James, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and four sisters.
Visitation for Ruth Jean and James D. Taylor will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Joint funeral service for the Taylors will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Proffer Cemetery in Whitewater.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
