DEXTER -- James A. Roberts, 75, of Dexter died at his home Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1996. DEXTER -- James A. Roberts, 75, of Dexter died at his home Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1996.

He was born July 28, 1921, at Dexter, son of William Prentis and Letha Edna Mofield Roberts

He married Rosemary Clay Feb. 14, 1948, at Piggott, Ark. She survives.

He was retired from Civil Service, where he worked for the Air Force. He was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church in Colorado Springs, Colo., where he worked from 1956 to 1962. He was a member of VFW Post 3416 at Wappapello, the Masonic Lodge in Dexter, DADS Post 366 at Wappapello, DAV Post 47 of Dexter, the NARFE, the ASCS Seniors, Stars & Stripes Museum Association at Bloomfield and the National League of POW-MIAs. He was a veteran of the Army.

Survivors include a son, Marke Roberts of Edgeley, N.D.; two daughters, Diana Bennett of Poplar Bluff and Vickie Spratt of Bloomfield; four brothers, Marvin Roberts of Dexter, Bob Roberts of Wappapello, Walter Tom Roberts of Arnold and Doyle Roberts of Tacoma, Wash.; two sisters, Ruth McBride of Dexter and Fleecie Boone of Flint, Mich., eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, one sister and two brothers.

Service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Watkins and Sons Funeral Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Rick Broadway officiating. Burial will be in Dexter.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. today.
