James L. "Jake" Roberts, 68, of 1004 Good Hope died Sunday, May 28, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born May 26, 1927, in Fancy Farm, Ky., the son of John and Florence Hobbs Roberts. He married Lois Marie Nye.
Roberts was a Prudential Insurance agent and manager for 35 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, Knights of Columbus Council 1027 of Cairo, Ill., and 4th Degree Assembly 0221 of Cairo. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Karen Roberts of Cape Girardeau; a stepdaughter, Cheryl Walston of Jackson; a brother, Charles Herbert Roberts of Cairo; two sisters, Elizabeth Adams of Cairo and Cecilia Marquardt of Cape Girardeau; and three step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel, where parish prayers will be conducted at 7 and KC rosary at 7:30.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Glen Eftink will officiate, and burial will be at Veterans Cemetery in Mound City, Ill.
