OAK RIDGE -- Funeral service for Jacob "Jake" Wendel of Oak Ridge will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at McCombs Funeral Chapel in Jackson. The Rev. Sam Roethemeyer will officiate, with burial in St. James Cemetery at Tilsit.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30.
Wendel, 75, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1993, in a car accident at Perryville.
He was born Sept. 29, 1918, at Illmo, son of Jacob and Minnie Suedekum Wendel. He and Allegra Daume were married Nov. 29, 1941.
Wendel was a farmer and had resided on the family farm since 1950. He was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ and its men's fellowship and adult Sunday School class, American Legion at Jackson, member and past master of Mystic Tie Lodge at Oak Ridge, and member of Sword of Bunker Hill. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary Wendel of Oak Ridge, David Wendel of Jackson; two daughters, Ruth Lane of Festus, Jane Malone of Springfield; two sisters, Adalia Moore of Jackson, June Ruff of Hattiesburg, Miss., and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.
