JACOB S. HITT

Jacob S. Hitt, 101, of Florissant, died Thursday, June 15, 1995, at Bent-Wood Nursing Center in Florissant.

He was born May 8, 1894, at Gordonville, son of Samuel A. and Elizabeth Hitt. He and Roxanna Noland were married Sept. 26, 1915, at Fruitland. She died April 5, 1995.

Hitt had been a funeral director, and had worked at Walther's Furniture and Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau from 1920 until retiring. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include the Rev. Glenn Hitt of Florissant, Jake Hitt of Nampa, Idaho, Robert Hitt of Jefferson City, Donald Hitt of Bridgeton, Billy Hitt of Ferguson; a daughter, Allene Dare of Bridgeton; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel, with the Rev. Rocky Meo officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
