COBDEN, Ill. -- Jackie D. "Jack" Evans, 67, of Cobden died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, at his home.
He was born Jan. 6, 1941, in Golconda, Ill., son of Marshall Rufus and Alice Lorraine Thompson Evans. He and Ethel Jackson were married Oct. 7, 1967, in Carbondale, Ill. She died July 8, 1978. He and Patsy D. Johns were married June 1, 1980, in Anna, Ill.
Evans retired as a machinist from Florsheim Shoe Co.
He served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Elwyn Evans of Atlanta, Texas, Jim Evans of Marble Hill, Mo., John Evans of Anna, Carl Evans of Cobden; a daughter, Jacqueline Evans of Cobden; two stepsons, Daniel Rowley of Herrin, Ill., Cory Rowley of Anna; a brother, Andrew Evans of Brookport, Ill.; a sister, Doris Blake of Vienna, Ill.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time Thursday at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Roger Glasco officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery with full military honors conducted by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455.
