BLOOMFIELD -- Joseph Carey "Jack" Ward, 78, of Bloomfield died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter.

He was born Oct. 26, 1919, in Stanton, Tenn., son of Carey and Ira Worrell Ward. He and Jean Sheldon were married Dec. 16, 1946.

Ward was associate judge of Stoddard County for 16 years. He was a member of Bloomfield American Legion and Bloomfield AmVets, member and past master of Bloomfield Masonic Lodge 153 AF&AM. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dennis and Larry Ward of Bloomfield; three brothers, Fred Ward of Dexter, Bob Ward of Arnold, Roy Ward of Bloomfield; four sisters, Kitty Welch and Kathryn Williams of Dexter, Katy Scism of St. Peters, Joy Oliver of Fenton; and two granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Friends may call at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery near Bloomfield.
