JONESBORO, Ill. -- Jack R. Sharp, 71, of Jonesboro died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, Ill.
He was born July 14, 1931, in Elco, Ill., son of Rando and Della Brimm Sharp. He and Betty Baggott were married March 26, 1955, in Tamms, Ill.
Sharp was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, American Legion in McClure, Ill., and life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Billy Sharp of Jonesboro; four daughters, Nancy Sweiter of Jonesboro, Jackie Drew of Carbondale, Betty Sharp of Harrisburg, Ill., Barbara Smith of Wolf Lake, Ill.; two brothers, Paul Sharp of Anna, Ill., Joe Sharp of Cobden, Ill.; a sister, Emma Whitson of Tulsa, Okla.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Dewayne Taylor and Andy Gillespie officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 of Anna.
