ORAN, Mo. -- Jack Richards, 94, son of the late Charles and Zenna Bilyeu Richards, was born Oct. 2, 1927, in Fort Bragg, California, and departed his life Friday, Jan. 14, 2022, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Jack married Doris Rowena Fleaner, and they were blessed with six children. She preceded him in death.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1946 and was honorably discharged in 1949. He was a former employee of Pucci Brothers Fish Market in San Francisco, California. After retirement in 1990, Jack moved to Oran. During his retirement, he enjoyed traveling across the U.S.A. in his motor home.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Carolyn Richards (Karen Grable) and Jane Rowena Dunbar, both of California, and Jean Zenna (Jim) Chantler of Oregon; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Catherine Stauss, and two brothers, Gary Richards and Ray Richards, all of California.
Besides his wife and parents, Jack was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles Richards, Tex Richards, Orval Richards and Frank Richards; two sons, Michael Robert Richards and Jack Allen Richards Jr.; and a daughter, Norma Lee Richards.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until noon Thursday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran.
The funeral services follow at noon Thursday, officiated by the Rev. Donny Ford. Interment with full military honors will follow at 2 p.m. in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
