John William "Jack" Hines, 71, of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, May 6, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 21, 1924, in Murphysboro, Ill., the son of Lorn and Florence Elizabeth Robinson Hines. He married Linda L. Watkins Feb. 11, 1969, in Cairo, Ill.
Hines drove a truck for Pic-Walsh Co. and General Cable of St. Louis from 1957-1970. He retired as shop supervisor for Malone & Hyde in Sikeston in 1983. He was a resident of Cape Girardeau for seven years and a member of the Sikeston Eagles Club.
Hines served in the Army during World War II. He was a Baptist.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Ron Hines of Brighton, Ill., and James Hines of Vallejo, Calif.; five daughters, Brenda Pierson of Murphysboro, Ill., Judy Mezo of Godfrey, Ill., Paula Kwas and Gina Courtaway, both of East Alton, Ill., and Mary Blackburn of Sikeston; one stepdaughter, Debbie Britt of Canalou; two sisters, Gladys Nausley of Murphysboro, Ill., and Wilma Fox of Dowell, Ill.; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel.
Service will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Dale Blackwell officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park. VFW Post 3838 will perform military rites at the cemetery.
