SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Melton Lee "Jack" Haney, 74, of Scott City died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 1, 1927, in Plant City, Fla., son of Virgil Lee and Elvirdia Ditto Haney. He and Muriel Charlotte Hirte were married Nov. 13, 1943, at Jackson, Mo.
Haney was an engineer with Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring in 1980.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jack Haney of St. Peters, Mo.; a daughter, Sandy Meystedt of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Virgil Haney of state of New Jersey; two sisters, Ann Kurley of Orland Park, Ill., Juanita McClain of Chaffee, Mo.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City after 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Watis Harrell officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
