Jack Rasmussen Gosnell, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020, at Southeast Hospital.

He was born Feb. 26, 1933, in Salem, Oregon, to Edgar and Lillie Rasmussen Gosnell.

He and Jody McLaughlin were married March 2, 1957, at Springfield, Missouri. She preceded him in death in October 2005.

Jack served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was a Korean War veteran.

He graduated from Urbana (Missouri) High School in 1950. He earned a bachelor's degree from Southwest Missouri State University in 1956 and a master's from Kansas State College at Pittsburg.

He was a math professor at Southeast Missouri State University for 31 years.

He was member of a local investment club, After Math Club, SEMO Athletic Boosters Club, Copper Dome Society at Southeast and past president of Cape Girardeau Evening Lions Club.

He was a member of First Christian Church for many years.

Survivors include his two daughters, Gail (Wayne) Craft of Perryville, Missouri, and Jill (Wes) Pangborn of Madison, Alabama; son, Guy (Tricia) Gosnell of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandchildren, Garrett Gosnell, Rachel Gosnell, Makenzie Gosnell, Madison Gosnell, Taylor (Joshua) Long, Megan Craft, Holly Craft, Audrey Pangborn and Caroline Pangborn; and a great-grandchild, Jack Long.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister and brother-in-law, Nadine (Lowell) Beneke.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis or Teen Challenge International Mid-America.
