MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Jack W. Davenport, 80, of Lees Summit died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at his home.
He was born June 30, 1920, at Bessville, Mo. He and Hazel Haynes were married April 30, 1994.
Davenport was superintendent of the propeller and machine shops at St. Louis Ship Co. 30 years.
He served in the U.S. Navy during world War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Keith and Byron Davenport of Bonne Terre, Mo.; a daughter, Mona Lorne of St. Louis; a stepson, Bill Miner of Cleveland, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Judy Stahl of Lone Jack, Mo.; a foster daughter, Jodi Grindstaff of Lawrenceville, Ga.; two sisters, Wilma Redecker of Bonne Terre, Vergie Cobb of Boulder, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Plainview Cemetery near Marble Hill, with the Rev. Odell Devenport officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Missouri Honors Team and U.S. Navy.
Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill is in charge of arrangements.
